The latest division of Building Erection Services, the glass and glazing unit was established in January of 1996 and is managed by Todd Riggs. This division focuses on a variety of work: skylights, glass handrails, automatic doors, hollow-metal doors, storefront glazing, windows, mirrors as well as closing and entry devices for doors.
Riggs, who owned and operated three companies related to this type of work before starting up this division last year, has been able to establish a sizable workload. With 18 people on staff, the glass and glazing division has a backlog of almost 4 million currently.
"There's been a good explosion of work here that's made that possible," Riggs said. "We seemed to be in the right place at the right time."
Some of the projects this division has worked on include: Station Casino, Kansas City, Mo.: Jacobson's at Town Center Plaza in Leawood, Kan.; the new Armani store on Kansas City's Country Club Plaza; the Target store in Olathe, Kan.; the Outlet Mall in Odessa, Mo.; the Super Target store in Olathe; Kaiser Permanent: and Cook Paint.
